Avni Pov
The moment I stepped into my classroom, I still couldn’t shake off the arrogant words from that so-called “Mr. Whoever-he-was.” My hands trembled slightly as I adjusted my books on the desk. His dark eyes, that smirk, the way he leaned close—it all kept replaying in my head like some unwanted “Avni!” A familiar voice broke my storm of thoughts. My best friend, Riya, waved from the corner. Relief washed over me as I hurried toward her.“Girl, you look like you just saw a ghost,” she whispered, eyeing me carefully. “Don’t tell me the seniors already ragged you?”I sighed, slumping into my seat. “Worse. I met the most insufferable guy alive.”Riya raised a brow, curious. “Name?” “I don’t know. Some arrogant jerk who thinks he owns the world,” I muttered, rolling my eyes. “Tall, dressed like he walked out of a magazine shoot, smirk plastered on his face like he’s God’s gift to humanity.Riya’s eyes widened. “Wait. Was he wearing a white shirt, expensive watch, and… ridiculously hot?”I gave her a flat stare. “Ridiculously irritating.” Her jaw dropped. “Avni! That’s Rudraksh Singhania!”
I blinked. “Who?”
She gasped dramatically, clutching my arm. “You don’t know Rudraksh Singhania? He’s not just anyone. He’s the Singhania heir. As in—the multi-billion empire Singhanias? Half the campus either wants to be him or be with him.” My stomach twisted. Figures. Of course the universe would throw me in front of the richest, most arrogant man alive.“Well,” I said firmly, “he may own half the world, but he doesn’t own me. And trust me, Riya, if he thinks I’ll bow down like the others, he’s in for a shock.” Riya smirked. “This is going to be fun.”
(Later that day – Avni in the library)
I had just settled in a quiet corner, flipping through a business strategy book, when that unsettling sensation returned—the feeling of being watched. My heart skipped. I looked up. And there he was.
Rudraksh.
Standing at the opposite shelf, pretending to browse books, but his eyes—those sharp, dark eyes—were pinned on me.“What is your problem?” I whispered harshly when our eyes met.He took his time walking toward me, confidence dripping from every step. He leaned down slightly, voice low but firm.“My problem,” he said, “is that you don’t know when to shut your mouth.”I narrowed my eyes. “And yours is that you think people will worship the ground you walk on. Not happening with me.”His lips curved in that infuriating smirk. “Good. I don’t want worship, Rathore. I want your attention. And it seems I already have it.”My chest tightened at his words, my pulse betraying me. I quickly stood up, clutching my book like a shield. “You’re delusional, Mr. Singhania.“Maybe,” he murmured, stepping aside, letting me pass. “But remember, Avni… the more you fight me, the deeper you’ll fall.”I walked out, refusing to look back. But my heart? My heart was already racing in ways I didn’t understand.
(Rudraksh’s POV)
She wasn’t like the others.Avni Rathore. The girl with fire in her eyes and venom in her tongue. The one who dared to defy me instead of running behind me.I should have been angry. But instead, I found myself smiling. She didn’t know it yet, but she had already become my obsession. And Rudraksh Singhania never let go of what he wanted.
